1984: Book III, Chapter IV - VI

In the very last section, the physical and mental torture erodes Winston's rebelliousness against the Party and soon falls at their mercy. Winston betrays Julia when threatened by a cage of rats and the two end their love and relationship. In the end, Winston accepts the Party and loves Big Brother. The power that the Party holds proves too much and any sort of humanity has now been crushed.
